Engagement Photo Ideas: Picnic Photoshoot

A few reasons this engagement session photo idea was so fun and different was because Hannah and Chad weren’t afraid to branch out with a unique vision – a picnic couples photoshoot together. If you’re looking for inspiration to find your own engagement photo ideas, definitely give this sweet experience some consideration! It felt so true to their personalities, and added a storyline to their photos instead of a random location smiling at the camera, which is still great although less personal and meaningful in the end.

We went to Square Lake Park in Stillwater, Minnesota. We started off with some pine tree engagement photos, where Hannah wore an adorable white engagement photoshoot dress, and then she changed into a more casual outfit when we crossed the parking lot to the long grass for the picnic.

Here are the photos this sweet couple took in the pine trees near the lake to start our session! We focused on warming up a little in front of the camera, doing some easy prompts like cozying up and smiling at the camera, walking and while bumping hips (the famous “drunk walk” photo prompt), and some kiss attack games. We then went down to a secluded, private opening on the shore of the lake and they were willing to step in for some lake engagement photos! SO CUTE.

Casual Engagement Photo Outfit

After this is when they quick changed in the car to a more casual, fun outfit, and grabbed the cute picnic basket with a bottle of champagne and flutes. By now, Chad even said he was having a blast, after starting off a little nervous! We kicked off doing a fun champagne spray, then let them cuddle while taking a few sips. Afterwards, we did some soft, romantic poses like snuggling on the blanket and just connecting with one another naturally in the moment.

Hannah and Chad had the PERFECT engagement photo idea for their session and made it so much fun by being willing to try something out of the norm. We had an absolute blast and we highly recommend incorporating a touch like this!
